Ruri Kim
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Psychotherapist
I offer virtual individual and family sessions in English and Korean. I specialize in working with clients from multicultural backgrounds.
My clinical approach is authentic and integrative, resulting in a collaborative treatment plan based on client’s culture and values, the best available clinical research, and clinical expertise for my clients to thrive in their lives. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, ADHD, OCD, Executive Functioning (EF) skills, complex trauma/PTSD, bipolar disorder, depression, racial/cultural identities, academic performance, family conflicts, relationship issues, grief, life transitions, stress and other life concerns. I have provided a range of evidence-based treatments including CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Trauma-Focused CBT, Parent Management Training, and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) program. Been an immigrant myself, I integrate a culturally responsive approach into an evidence-based framework. I bring a social justice lens to my work, which allows me to understand how experiences of injustice, systemic inequities, and oppression impact my clients' mental health. I approach therapy by thinking of myself and my clients as “fellow travelers,” co-creating narratives that help my clients to better understand themselves.
