Maira Iqbal
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Psychotherapist
I'm passionate working with underserved communities. Growing up as a person of color taught me how important inclusivity and diversity is.
I am a compassionate trauma-informed therapist that primarily works with individuals struggling with trauma/PTSD, relationship issues, chronic pain, partner violence, substance abuse issues, anxiety, stress, depression, cultural identity, cultural/intergenerational conflicts, family conflicts, and other issues. As a daughter of South Asian immigrants, I have always been interested in working with traditionally overlooked communities. I have worked with individuals with dual diagnosis, domestic violence survivors, veterans, and LGBTQIA individuals. I speak Hindi and Urdu. The therapy approaches and frameworks I tend to incorporate into my work with clients include CBT, CPT, ACT, DBT, Psychodynamic, Somatic, IFS, Neural Desensitization, Mindfulness, Guided imagery, Culturally-sensitive, Linguistically-appropriate, Trauma-informed, Client-centered, Strength-based, and other approaches. Growing up as a person of color taught me how important inclusivity and diversity is. It is why I always approach my clients with openness and cultural humility. I lean in on compassion and unconditional positive regard. I operate through a trauma-informed and person-centered perspective.
