CarrieAnn Lefsaker
(She/Her/Hers)
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
I am trained in Brainspotting, am in EMDR training, and use a trauma-focused approach. I welcome all LGBTQ+ identities and all races and cultures.
I spent 21 years in the U.S. military and have been peer mentoring in the addiction recovery community for over 10 years. My time with these two populations, and my own personal experiences, have given me a passion for understanding and treating trauma and the many conditions that arise along with it. What is trauma? Glad you asked! The short answer is that trauma is emotional, physical, or psychological suffering, usually from an event or series of events. This can range from physical abuse to a friend saying something unexpectedly hurtful. The emotions pop up at seemingly unrelated things, are hard to control, and get you stuck in thought spirals. This is usually where social anxiety, performance anxiety, depression, etc. come from. You don't always need to pick apart the event, so don't feel like you will be pushed to share details that you aren't comfortable sharing. We can work on these things at your pace and your comfort level. I do not take insurance but I use a program called Mentaya that can help with out-of-network claims. You can use their cost checker on my website to check your benefits.
